Does it have a countdown timer and make a ticking noise?

Is it bolted around the pipe? I have never seen anything like that. If it just bolted around your exhaust pipe I would take it off.
??????????

Nothing even remotely like it on my truck. I suggest dissection. Carefully.

Carefully... as in smash it with a BIG hammer! Smash now, smash later, smash some more, and if someone says something, ask a few questions later.

That's called a mass damper. It is just a steel cylinder, usually partially filled with lead shot. Its weight is tuned to change the natural frequency of a problem vibration. I've never seen one just like that but I have seen them on other Fords. That clamp-on version looks like a dealer-installed TSB fix for an idle vibration or an exhasut drone.

I think it's a CIA tracking device...been around any terrorists lately??? They might be watching you.

Bob works for them, so of course he'd make up a good cover story...

John, how did you find out that I work for the CIA?? Have you checked your mud-encrusted undercarriage lately?

I DID!! There was alskan doberman dog poop under there. Is the home base in Alaska? Petrified poop can do some undercarriage damage when not removed with Alaskan doberman petrified poop remover. Also known as "preperation H" in the CIA field.

Forgive me, for i am bored.

Of course I have. What makes you think the data you're getting is the real data? You're better off following my APRS data...

How did I find out you were CIA? Karl Rove told me...

Took the truck to the ford dealer, they are looking at that and my ac gets warm for no reason so Im truckless until tomorrow. I want that thing off and they are suppose to check to see if it needs it, I dont want to have it snag on something while im driving around and ripping out my whole exhaust cause that would just suck ***.

It looks like it is held on by an ordinary muffler clamp. I can't tell from the pictures but maybe it can be rotated up out of harm's way?

It's not on my 01 duratech. At least it wasn't on the old exhaust; which is in the attic somewheres. I would have cut that silly thing off and mailed it back to Ford like something they do in the mafia. (Your exhaust sleeps with the fishes )

I had one of those on my 2002 2.3L Ranger. I have seen others, but they always seem to be on the 2.3L. Dealer told me they were a dampner for vibration in the exhaust system.
