08xlt what part of cali are you from? and did you mount your own bumper??

I live in Upland.

The bumper is super easy to take on and off. 4 bolts.

that Fabtech bar was pretty easy too, just had to drill some holes and bolt it in!

06fx4 L2 08-20-2008 11:25 PM

so how did you get to the back to put on the nuts? are you able to just reach around?

JOSH

08XLT4x4 08-20-2008 11:27 PM

yeah. it mounts right onto the front crossmember. Its somewhat hard to reach, but basically its right around where the tow hooks are mounted.

06fx4 L2 08-20-2008 11:30 PM

sweet that means i can probably do what i was thinkin about! yippi!!! lol

sorry i completely passed the part where you lived, upland is by ontario??

08XLT4x4 08-20-2008 11:33 PM

yeah, just north of Ontario. where you at? i might b e able to help you get the bumper off or whatever if youre nearby.

06fx4 L2 08-21-2008 12:00 AM

im waayy west on the 210 by sunland.. did you have to take the bumper off to do yours??

cory07ranger4x4 08-21-2008 12:32 AM

I don't see why you would need help... Taking off my bumper didn't even take 5mins my first time. Easier than changing a tire!

06fx4 L2 08-21-2008 10:37 PM

ya but do i need to take off the bumper?? the way it sounds i just drill holes through the bumper cover and the sheet metal and bolt it up!! at least thats the way i read it..

JOSH

04blackedge 08-21-2008 10:40 PM

Yeah thats what I would do

cory07ranger4x4 08-21-2008 10:42 PM

yeah... just do it. If you drill and can't get your hands or wrench under it, spend 4-5 mins and take the bumper off!!:biggthump

06fx4 L2 08-21-2008 10:43 PM

thats what i hope, im just gunna get a 3 foot long bit and drill from the hood to the floor and ill find SOMETHING strong enough to bolt it too i`m sure!

JOSH

06fx4 L2 08-21-2008 10:43 PM

ya but if i have to take the bumper off to bolt it on how do i put the bumper back on over the bolt??

04blackedge 08-21-2008 10:50 PM

The bolt isn't going to affect how the bumper goes on at all.

06fx4 L2 08-21-2008 11:44 PM

i guess i caint describe what im trying to say with text. but the best way i can is look at 08xlt's light bar and look how it bolts then tell me how i would put the bumper back on with it bolted to the sheet metal.

Yes I understand your 06 bumper is a little different than my 05 but the under side should be near the same.. you'll have plenty of room to put nuts on underneath the bumper with it mounted...

well when i looked under there the one time i did it seemed that the metal part was a box so i didnt think it was possible to put a nut on there but it seems i may have been wrong.

and redoctober.. what are the dimension of the lights you have? i was going to go with the 500s but im worried they are going to be too small

theres nothing under there, except the frame and front crossmember... but it gives you plenty of room to bolt stuff on.

I didnt even take the bumper off to bolt that light bar up.

Im kinda confused as to what you wanna do.

04blackedge 08-22-2008 01:05 AM

I think he's the confused one. Have you not gone and looked at the bumper? It sounds like you haven't

06fx4 L2 08-23-2008 06:08 PM

lol ok so i went and took another look....

well i dont know what the heII i saw before but this time i looked it all made sense. i apoligize for even asking the question cause now i see why you guys were confewsed at what i was asking. when i looked at it with ar friend the first time it looked like a box or a tube well its not its only a damn L shape so its SUPER EZ to bolt onto.. lol o man..
