Window tinting
Window tinting
Hey guys
Im going to have my windows tinted this upcoming week and i have a few questions
I was going to get 35% front and 5% for the rear but the tint shop im going to only does 0% 20% 40% 60% and 80% so should i go with 40%?
Does the factory tint have to be removed to tint darker?
What % should i do on the rear to achieve 5% since i already have stock tint on the rear?
What is a good price for the whole job they quoted me $175-$200?
only reason im going so light in the front is that 70% is the legal limit in CA
And if you have pics of your tinted windows tha would be great
thanks Jordan

i'm pretty sure the law requires that 75% light can get in, therefore....i'd go with 20% besides i think 40 is to dark, 25 is really the perfect number though. as far as the stock tint i'd leave that as is, unless its not much more to do the 20% all the way around
Alright i know what the law is im sorry if this offends any one but im gonna break that stupid law
and Fx4blackranger i think you have it backwards 20% tint equals 20% light going through

yeah the way i see it is if they can still see you and whats in your truck then its fine and they usually wont pull you over just for tint but if they get you for some thing else you just roll the windows down haha
so does anyone have pics of their tint

I had 20% on my sides and 5% on the rear
Got sick of being hastled in NH and to avoid fines etc. I removed the tint from the front 2 windows. It looked so good with the front ones being dark but, the cops didnt think so. Being on the Fire Dept. contesting them probably wouldnt look to good on my part, neither would be in my favor. Looking at the pictures makes me want to re tint them but...Someday

i got a window tint sticker put on my car when i had dark tint. cops would pull me over and see the sticker on the windshield and say im sorry and have a good day. it was great.
just go to the dr and say that you get migranes from the sunlight even with sunglasses on. thats what a buddy of mine did

Dosent work in NH tried it....lol...It has to be approved by the state, and you have to get a new one yearly
20% MATCHS your back STOCK windows, 35-40% (not a noticeable difference in % to a normal persons eye), will "blend" with the stock tint. Not real dark, but dark enough to see there tinted. 35%-40% looks real nice on a ranger with stock tint in the rear.
Ok, window tint here, or how ive always been told and someone correct me if im wrong please.
With no tint at all, you have 100% of light transmitting through your window.
NOW, with that said, you put a 20% tint on your windows. The amount of light transmitted through your window will be 20%, you took 80% of the light transmission out of the picture WHICH means its a dark tint.
The LOWER in percentage you go, the darker the tint, and the less light will be transmitted through your windows.
0-5% is just about black = Hard to see out of at night, very dark appearence
10-20% = Pretty dark, has a greyish hue to it most mini vans and king cab trucks come stock with 20%
30-40% = Light Grey
40+% = Gets very light, noticeable, but not as noticeable as a lower percentage
well put ^^^
the lower the number % the darker it is
and no tint is actually like 90% light passes through bcause of glare/reflection
i think im going to get 40% over very thing so the back will come out to what? 10%? 15%????

Amen
Im pretty near where you live, it gets really hot really fast inside a truck down here. Im actually in the process of tinting as well, just replace a broken windshield, and now im going with the darkest tint i can find hehe.
Went to a local tint place.....and they put their "tint gage" on my windows.......Stock privacy is approx 18% ~ 20%. And my fronts are about 15%. imo......even 35% is not dark enough for me.
"Tint gage" meaning a tool which shoots light through the window to the other side and shows a reading on how much light is being transmitted through the film.....thus telling your how dark your tint is.

i have 20% on my front windows, 5% on the rear. i love the nice black look that blends in with my truck. but fair warning, its super hard to see ANYTHING out the back window at night and its also hard to see out the side windows without them down too at night
