Built a front receiver and got a winch!!!

So the other day i was at Sams Club, and on the clearance rack they had a champion 10,000lb winch for $299.00. I hade some birthday money on hand and i couldnt pass it up. It's mounted on a 2" hitch mount plate and came with 85 feet of winch cable, the controler, and front and rear wireing conectors. Hears some pics!!!

That thing is only $300? I'm not so fond of having a winch on a 2wd, but i'd sure rock a hitch mounted one! Since I'm usually the one who needs drug lol

I didnt notice that before, i thought it was supported between the frame. Just using that stock tow hook crossmember, if you end up using all the umph that winch will kick out. I bet money you'll twist that stock crossmember like a pretzel!

square crossmember ftw

Yeah I wouldn't trust it much pulling straight on the tow hooks. What I plan on doing is putting a piece of square tubing between the frame rails that butts up to the front crossmember than weld the tube to that.

Yea. I could pull a house down with the current way my hooks are. (well i have pulled a good tree down lol). But the stock crossmember I cut out, that had stock hooks were tweaked bad. Everytime (3x) i used the front hooks, i had to get the HUGE prybar out and tweak the hook back down. Also with adding that front crossmember to mine, I immediately noticed a stiffer front end while driving.

That was a huge piece of stainless steel. Lots of money right there. It would have been better looking if you bumped the hitch up a few inches so you didn't have to cut your valance. How did you weld the hitch to the SS plate?

Nice idea.

Doesn't look like stainless filler metal to me. I call BS.
