Front Bumper Design Ideas

Ok, I've been tossing the thought around in my head the past couple weeks. And now that I've got a Waag going on soon, I'm losing the skidplate that was on the bull bar. I do a little bit of wheelin and most of it requires me to run over small trees and whatnot, so I need the protection underneath.

I need some pics of NON-PRERUNNER, "non-weeny", front bumpers. I'm gonna check out some of the local welding shops to see what they can do for me.

Here's the requirements:

-Must work with the WAAG Bar
-Must have a skidplate that reaches to the front suspension
-Must have a winch mount and d-rings

All in all, I just need a tough front bumper that can withstand a good beating and be able to pull me out.

arg! Your making me angry....lol. Ok, I'll just get someone to make me a heavy duty skidplate to go with the WAAG and then save up to get a bumper made.

How you like dem apples...

I still dont understand ur idea...keep the stock bumper and add on to the waag bar like a brush guard, or custom bumper w/ a waag on it?

No, mounting 2 sets of lights on the waag. Mounting one set where they usually go and mounting another set off the sides.

hes not using the waag as a winch mount or tow out... he wants a new bumper for that, and then he likes the look of the waag so i guess he'd like it on there if he can

idk

Well, yeah that's what i was saying. But I guess that's not such a good idea. Does anyone have a close up shot of the side of the waag so i can see if I could mount an extra set of lights on the side??

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna go with the Hella Rallye 4000s euro beams. just one set for now, since all these mods are puttin a hurtin on my wallet. I'll upgrade to a total front bumper when I do some kinda lift.

Newer, Betterer Idea

Here's a design I've been playing with for a couple days. I think this is a pretty good one, I've just got to get some measurements made. If I took this to a fab shop, do you think they would laugh at me or help me out?? I took the basic design shape from a Land Rover site, but I can't find it now. Here ya go...

Yeah be careful how far it sticks out, to far out and it will not pass inspection in some states.. Looks good though.

I have modified the designa little bit, like taking the rounded edges and making them straight to the winch box. And also moving the winch box back a little, Ii have got any measurements for it yet, but I'll make sure to bring the front in just long enough to fit the winch in there.

BTW, I really like yours, DOC

Yeah I would skip the WAAG bar certainly. That bumper looks like it's got some potential!

Though it looks like there's a chunk missing out of it in the side shots... like where the skidplate would go.
