front hitch build up

heres my stink on a front hitch build.

bumper is so easy to remove.... best idea! makes measuring easier.

those hitch winches are great and all until you get on a pretty hefty side pull. then they bend over. i was told of a good tip for that make another receiver just off to the side so there 2 points of connection makes for a better distribution of weight on a side pull.

looks very nice, though I'd prefer to weld it to the frame. I dont have a front hitch, but my crossmember is welded. The whole bumper and crossmember tightened up my front end noticeably.

Your handy work is much nicer than mine. Just to me it seems four bolts fitting two not machined together surfaces will allow a decent amount of flex. That crossmember is the only area tying the entire front of the truck together.

i ran a very simular set up on my 94 and worked well.

mike, yea i know welding is better but its a 08 lol not ready to start burning steel onto it. the bottom match up rather well. and if it don't work out with the bolts everything is tight enough i can weld it. but its new so don't want it too permanent.
