home-made rear bumper
well i whipped this up in like 7 hrs. its really dusty/dirty right now but ive been meaning to post this for a while now.
Still to do on this rear bumper is polish up the welds /clean the splater a little better. and Cut holes for lights (to be done kinda like the lic plate area is..) with a thick metal wire cover and prep and paint (with real paint maybe) :P
oh and nevermind the plywood bed sidin. im moving this weekend :P

no, thx that reminds me,... i just welded it to the frame. i wanna later cut out bolt holes and bolt it.....
the mounting brackets go thru the bumper so the parts that u see sticking out with cleavis holes is welded to the frame (good pull points)
the brackets are 1/2" thick
the bumpers is mostly a 2X6X1/4" C-channel with 3/16" thick sheet welded on most of the back
for those of you that dont know C-channel that well, the corners are MUCH thicker

ya know.... you might wanna add some bracing inside the channel, aftrer all it is 6inches high. If u added little vertical supports inside the channel, spaced about 8inches apart, the bumper with be almost indestructable.

i want someone to rear end me so i can see how good the bumper really is lol!
my next bumper build is going to be a font bumber for a 2nd gen ford expl. But since i still dont have a shop it might take a while
