So I picked up my new toy last weekend. Shes a Hobart Handler 135 MIG welder. It is made on the same assembly line as the Miller so I trust its quality. It's got a lot more power than I thought it would. I can blow holes through 1/8th inch plate on half power. Should be good times with my new toy.

NICE! My company just bought a new welder that looks alot like that (different brand though). We use it for welding aluminum enclosures for some of our products. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to metal working, so I couldn't give you details, but I got to use it! I was coming in from lunch and saw the shop door was open. I figured I'd drop in and shoot the **** w/ our shop gnome. Turns out half the company was in there huddled around the new 'toy'. I stood around watching for a few min before someone said "Hey Colin, you wanna give it a shot?" I was like "Are you kidding!" My job is fun sometimes, it's like a boys-w/-toys club around here on occasion!

I would definitely like to better learn how to weld..

Head to the shop one day during work and ask one of the welders if they'd be willing to stay an hour or so late everyday to teach you to weld. Thats what I did at our shop.

make the cart your first project. that is what i did. it is not the fanciest but it gets the job done. plus it is good to learn on , b/c it is a lot of small welding here adn there.

i jsut used 1" angle iron. nothing special. ill prolly build a better one later

Jared I'd be more than happy too... IF I had a bender. No bender makes it kinda hard to.. well bend.

Hey mudhippy, dont know if you are interested but do you remember my bumper? It is for sale, how does 100 bux sound and I will even weld it on for you if you come down. I had to make a new one since my hella 4000 were to big for it. If I didnt cut back my frame so far it would have been fine. Let me know I could even meet you half way if you have someone else that could weld it on for you.

Hey jayson get the harbor frieght pipe bender for time being. that is unless you got like 500 for the jd2 and dies. the hf one is only 60 bux
