My tube bumper build

alright, i want a tube bumper cause im sick of the stock one gather mud like crazy. started by getting measurements, then sketched out a few designs. settled on one, then started transferring it to google skethcup.

heres the progress so far. main piece done, 2" tubing, still have another tube of 1.5" going farther in, it will be between the side panels under the tailgate.

these pics show what will be farther out from the tailgate area. act as a step like the current stock bumper.

rear angled view (this part faces out away from the back of the truck)

side profile view (passenger side)

front side view (this part faces the front of the truck)

top profile view. the bottom piece is a tad farther in than the top piece.

thoughts so far?! I may make the bottom piece go down a little further yet, havent decided yet!

Not too bad for a start. Looks like it wont be too huge.

Do you plan on using a hitch or d-rings?

hitch will be a traditional hitch like stock, under bumper. already have one that is attached to the frame, will just re use that.
D rings, nope. this bumper is staying clean. as in only tube and no crap welded on. will have a hitch attachment with a hole in it where i can attach my clevis.

Looks good man. Alot like a rock slider, you could make that for the rear and two more for the sides, all matching.

haha yea, i'll be adding in a third tube along the bottom below the inside tube, with angled tubes connecting it to the outside tube. basically creating a triangle.

I like the updated design, it'll look really good on a Ranger. Are you gonna add a intergrated tow hitch and or recovery hook mounts?

im thinking about doing an integrated hitch now, hidden behind a flip up licence plate holder so it looks clean.

No recovery hooks, ill have a hitch attatchment with a hole in it i can put my Clevis through.

No need for two threads. One in the appropriate section is sufficient.

Haha yeah, I'm still gonna tweak it a bit, but it should be very damn strong when it's done.
