screw the skid, i want t00b doors ;)
looks good, is that the 1/4" plate you scored? |
it looks good except all the beef is useless with those mounts.
Yeah man. Honestly, add some 3/8in gussets to the mounts on the angled surface like mine... That'll really help it out.
Glad you went with one like mine! Looks good though! |

Glad you went with one like mine! Looks good though! im going to. but mine is a bit different than yours because mine isnt straight up. it goes over and up into the frame. so it jams up into the frame instead of putting stress on the welds. i am going to add a gussett though. better safe than sorry |
Can never have too many gussets man.
Welds can handle stress man. Actually a good weld can withstand 58,000psi minimum, which is as strong if not stronger than the base metal. Now it all depends on thickness. With the front and back gussets you have, that belly will be quite strong and resist bowing and bending, but you really need some side gussets to support the angles that go up to the frame. Good work though man! |
Nice, that thing is beast!! Maybe add some holes for drainage.
the metal should fail before a weld mayn!!
yea i added some gussets on the side like you said trevor. turned out pretty good. and i driled holes in it right under the tcase for drainage and because my tcase likes to leak. well, something under there likes to leak. didnt want a pool of atf on my tcase skid. lol
that tab is just something else to get caught on a rock ;)
yea thats what i DIDNT want so thats why i made it a bit higher than the bottom of the skid. i figured for what its worth, that little bit will make the difference(not really but im just gonna keep telling myself that)...
i didnt mean from the bottom, like if your on the t-case skid, sideways or something.. or sliding across a rock.. I just see a chunk of rock grabbing the tab..
we'll see what Katemcy has to say about it.. My skid plate, traction bar and winch all got a good work out today, hopefully the winch isn't toast.. |
It will man.
Good work! I have a small pool of ATF on my skid... Need to reseal my t-case too.... |

Need to reseal my t-case too.... yea i had my trans housing extension snap in half on me about a year ago. and ever since i put the new one in, it hasnt stopped leaking. its a super slow leak but just enough for you to know its there. oh well, they always leak over time anyway. thanks for the help |
Hey no problem man! Get it on the truck and post pics, then post pics on how it works! lol
Trevor, are you sending me yours to test out?
