Project: Paxton charged 4.0
Project: Paxton charged 4.0
i finally have my all the parts to boost the ranger! heres the parts list I've got
paxton kit
42 lb injectors
lightning maf
tune made off the dyno tune, edited for boost
hks ssqk bov (may or may not use)
battery relocation kit
plan is to run e85 if i can, we'll see once it's on a dyno again. should be about 5-6 lb of boost on a 10:1 static compression, ported, cammed 4.0
todays work:...
first things first, the hanger when i built my exhaust, was poor.. it sat against the frame and rattled.. so i fixed that issue first

i think it came out pretty good.. doesn't sit on the frame any more... i have some tips so that i can finish it out the side with lightning style exhaust.. been wanting to do it for a long time just haven't
2nd order of business.. paxton setup requires battery relocation...

now.. the fun part... getting a blower kit from the early 90's to fit on a mid 90's truck .. WITH ABS..

as you can tell.. the dang abs pump thingy is in the way! but anyways.. ill just get some lines made and move the pump to the front of the battery tray.. as you can see in the picture there is a ton of room up there now
progress... got the line and fittings to move the abs forward, so I'm going to start with that, get it pumped and bled then the blower will be on in no time.

Quite a bit... Got the kit from a user over on rps, it's a brand new setup (he's had it since these kits were made in early 90s.. Very hard to fine, ESP one that wasn't even used) it's old in age but it was only on a vehicle for a show so the head unit is fresh
Nice, make sure you change out the oil in it before you use it. That ABS unit looks like it could just be moved back an inch and it would clear, all you'd have to do is trim the hardlines and reflare them again.
There isn't oil in it so yes it'll be fresh...
And no, the and is in the way of the intake plenum that connects to where the red cap is .. It's much more in the way than an inch.. It'll need to go in front of the blower instead of behind it

30lb vs 42 lb crazy the difference!

Well here's where things start getting creative.. Lol as if they werent enOugh already...
Finally got the intake plenum mounted, had to use a couple of my own connectors and stuff.

Flashed my tune and mounted the iat sensor.. Need to but the charge pipe on for good and get the maf and filter install finished.
It's alivvvveeeeeeeee

DONE!

the tires are BFG G-force KDW 2.. they don't have very many miles on them.. the drivers side just got replaced under warrantee a couple weeks ago actually.. but the rest are probably 90% still. they grip awesome
the truck will see a dyno here in a couple weeks probably

it pulls very hard now and as far as gains.. well we'll just see when dyno coming, it's def healthy tho. i want to see 240 rwhp at least.. which is pretty reasonable considering it made 190 n/a.. that's over 300 rwtq :)
well she's definitely making what i was wanting as far as power goes! tune isn't complete, there is a wot bug crawling around in there somewhere, but we did a partial pull at 3/4 ish throttle and spun it up to 4300 rpm. that gave us 4.3 psi of boost and 247whp/303wtq... so when the tune is done it should be pretty nasty at wot!
okay.. again keep in mind this is not even wot.. and was only a 4.3 psi pull
todays pull compared to na pull, notice we stopped pulling at like 4300 ish rpm
old numbers were 191/256
