ok, plan is to run some 33x12.5x15s

now i know they will fit on a 8inch wide and a 10inch wide rim, but how will a 8inch and a 10inch rim effect my truck?

im not asking for performance, or else id keep my 17s low profiles on, but what about wheel barrings and other things, would a 10inch rim kill them faster?


oh, i believe the rims im looking at have a 4.00 backspace




any input?

What happen you the lowered.

 

The farther out you go with the backspacing the quicker suspension components are going to wear. If you stick with a more so factory backspacing then rubbing comes into play with the 10 inch wide wheel.

Gildo always said that the 15x10's blow a bead easier... i dont know if it is a fact..

i personally would go with the 15x10s

 

Oh and with the 8 inch wide wheel the 12.5, the outside of the tire will not contact the road unless you run minimal pressures.

 

well, i have some prerunner front fenders, so id like to fill them up, also, the spindle will push them out, and will the explorer rear im installing, but the 4.00 backspacing looks to be the closest to stock for the style rim im looking at

 

 

i'd go with an 8 inch... thats whats on the truck now, and thats what it will be with 33's

I run 8's to retain the bead better. But as mentioned, it does distort the tire. However, this is not a big deal on a wide wheel on the street since you don't need (and may not want) all that width on the pavement at once (friction). You still put all the tread in play offroad, especially when aired down.

10's look cooler, and I'm not sure how they wear the bearings/ball joints much more, if at all. I'm also not sure but in some cases I might expect 10's to encourage more rubbing up front -- but that depends on the vehicle, lift, etc.

There isn't going to be much traction difference in them offroad overall. 10's vs. 8's with the same backspacing make your track width 4" wider -- which may or may not be an advantage. I have places I go where I barely fit through now, so I prefer the 8's.

I think I see more folks on this board using 10's then 8's -- but there are a few of us with 8's for our own reasons...though that doesn't make it the right decision for you.

do both rim sizes rub with a 33X12.50X15 on a body lift?

 

If your getting all terrains, they will look just like mine, 33x12.5x15....i have 15x8's and i like them, but dont like how the outsides dont touch, so im going with 15x10s next time, so that it looks better and the whole tire will be on the ground....it doesnt wear bad or do anything bad, ive put over 20k on mine and no problems with them...

no, but its still a good idea if you have t-bars to just level the truck out a little to give more room

15x10's look alot better.

But for you, you might have to go 15x8 due to rubbing issues, and those wide wheels may not look as good since you have a reg. cab, vs. ext cab.

No i dont have any pics of my "tire" right now, i have some that you can kind of see what it does, but ill get some today......I think the guy who had my truck before me had big tires on it also, i bought it with 20k miles on it, it already had a body lift on it, and when i went to crank the tbars i think they are already cranked....with an added 1nch block on the back...ill have to take some pictures to see....but im gona go with 10s next time....scott you should have waited, i would have sold you my rims and tires so i could get 10's and new a/t's

weee 15x10's on edge stock suspension with a mild crank on the bars. Never rubbed even when i jumped it lol...oh yah im on 32x11.5x15's by next time i hope to have a lift on so i can go with 33x12.5x15's if not ill go with 32x12.5x15's like 8 of my friends have rangers and of all my friends setups, i think my 10" looks better and could look even better with 12.5 wide tires....

i was in the same place u were a couple months ago. I ended up getting 10" hoping not to have probs. none yet rides hecka smooother. stiff only cause of my torsion crank. sweeeeet traction.
