I saw a kit on TV, it didn't work on vehicals with cats and only worked with older electrical systems with distrubuters and coils, but here is what it did. It mounts a spark plug in the tip of the exhaust, and mount a seperate coil somewhere near the tip of the exhaust and it had a timer connected to a relay that would switch power from the coil that fires the engine to the coil at the back of the truck.
So the engine would run and then for a second the spark plugs on the engine would NOT fire and raw gas would be pushed out the exhuast valves and into the exhaust and then the gas would get back to the spark plug in the tip and that coil would be energized and fire the spark plug in the tip and there you go.

Thats the basic idea anyway

I am in way responable for anything you do !

The "standard" flame thrower setup described above will NOT work on modern fuel injected vehicles. From everything that I have read, and I have done some research on this topic, it's just been a long time, you need another fuel source to make it work. The cats and egr setup take out too much of the fuel and there isn't enough left to burn.

Not my cup of tea. Why pay so much money for nice shiny exhaust tips if all you're gonna do is burn them up?

There's a guy on RPS that did a flamethrower exhaust a few months ago.

Here's a link to a thread about it...

and here's a video if his exhaust when he finished it

I also looked into this b/c I was thinking about getting one for my truck at one point. Here's some details I found after looking around this should answer any question u have, and also I believe that site has a kit u can order from them instead of having to search around and piece together a kit.

there the cheaper kit where it just dumps

but ive seen expensive kits where you get a tank of something and a purge and it purges the flamable liquid which then makes flames

I've got 'em on my chevy.....no pics yet. But I got mine from Autoloc.....they're a local company and it's friggin sweeeeeet!!! What ya do is install spark plug as far center into the pipe, attach them to a coil & a swich...and I wired them direct, no relay for fast action...but did in stall a fuse. Rev up the engine, kill ignition, push button while pumping throttle w/ ignition off......it puts unburnt fuel through the entire system and the spark plugs light it up in nice good ole flames.

Here's a good link with an Fuel Injected kit w/ vids and stuff:
