I finally got around to making some endlinks. As most superlift owners know, the crappy ball joints on the superlift links fail qite regularly and it causes them to make a clunk whenever a bump is hit.

Total cost was about $20. parts:
2 20" long grade 8 threaded rod in 7/16" (1/2" is better but 7/16" is all I could find in grade 8 and thats the same as the superlift links and bigger than stock)
Some Energy Suspension swaybar endlink bushings from Autozone (8 of them and it included the dished washers)
Cheap metal pipe from Home Depot
2 stover nuts and 2 nylock nuts.

Cut down the rod to the same length as the superlift links Forgot how long... you can easily figure that out)

The pipe length is 10 3/4" to allow the bushings to fit and keep the swaybar level

Slid the bushings and washers on, hooked it up to the swaybar, and thats it. Drives exactly the same as before minus that annoying clunk!

Im not sure if the pipe is gonna rust or not, i might end up painting it.

for the rod, you can us u bolt rod that hasnt been bent. It will be grade 8

Chris...why go through all the trouble to FIND un bent ubolts when you can just get all thread anywhere?

The hole is only 3/8" but i forced the 7/16 rod through no problem, although it was really tight. The hardest part was getting the top bushings on after I hooked up the anti sway bar.

1/2" rod would be tough, might damage bushing. 7/16 rod im sure is plenty strong. its still bigger than stock and is same size as the superlift link.

 

I might settle for 7/16 then....oh yea....i'm making it a quick-disco too.

 

Im interested in seeing how you design this! I drove around with the sway bar disconnected for about a week and it was great. I dont like it on the freeway though and since my truck is my daily driver, i have to have a swaybar... but for off roading, its sooo nice to have it off!

 

There should be a thread soon about it...give me a couple months. lol.


*reason being.....alignment shop won't align me if i don't have a sway bar. They say it's a liability on thier part due to the amount of lift i have. total bs imo.
