Static Cling window tint?

Anybody have it? I like the idea of being able to stick darker tint on cheaply, and remove it without any problems if the police didn't like it. I already have my side windows tinted the legal limit 35%, but would be nice to have them darker. I read where someone put it on their car (mazda 5?) and I didn't read anything about any problems with it comming off. The brand is Gila. Its only like 10 bucks at autozone........

Why would I be mad? Id just smile and pull it off, and then put it back on when I got home.

Dang, I think im going to have to pick me up some. haha Im thinking 5%. Im not sure what all the talk about not being able to see out 5% tinted windows at night. I've got a 5% sunstrip and back glass and can see the red lights and stuff just as easy. Maybe I can finally have dark windows without wasting money if I have to take it off, i'll still have my 35%.

RangerOn20s, I wouldn't think it would turn purple or not as bad/quick if its behind my 35% tint. It was done professionally.

I think a lot of these replies are from people who are confusing the static cling window tint with the cheaper adhesive window tint that is prone to fading (to purple) and bubbling up.

I've seen that stuff bubble up esp. on rear windows...another thing static cling tends to stretch when its hot in the sun...so it might slide off in heat...

When it got hot it peeled off all of the time, and for some reason it kept getting air bubbles, real bad, definetly not for the side windows.I think it has to do with the thickness of it.

mine was static tint...it will look watery for about a day or so after that it will look like normal tint...it jus takes a while for the back of the tint to dry, or atleast mine did

and you used a water/soap mixture and squeeged it like normal tint? Does it look watery before you put it on? The reason I ask is b/c i've read a few forums and stuff about static tint, and they said it looks watery and is crap and bla bla. It can't be that bad, its basically regular tint without the adhiesives.

i just used soap and water and a credit card...lol i was cheap...it looks like regular tint outta the box its jus really thick...when u put it on it will look water cuz of the water/soap, let it sit in the sun for alil while and it will look like normal tint, jus take your time and do it right, its thickness can make it hard to get all the bubbles out, start in the center and work outward, and be sure to put it under the weather strippin too,

I've tinted windows before on my last truck. How did you get the tint under the weather stripping? Also, how long has the tint been on your truck, and hows it holding up? any problems with it?

Im just wondering if I should get 20% or 5%......I already have the sides tinted with 35%. I dont want the sides to be too dark.......darker than the back, which is 5%. But, I want it to be dark enough to look close to 5%.

i had it on my car for over a year now, and after having to be pulled off cuz of road blocks its still looks new, to get it under the weather strippin take a card and push the tint past the bottom strippi, its easy that way, and if u go 20 on the sides your going to wish u had went 5, friend of mine has the same truck u have jus dark green and not lowered, he went with 20 then a week later he went 5 and seeing his truck is makin me go 5 on the sides and 2 1/2 on the back glass, you could lay another 35 on your sides to make 12% i think or something like that, i seen it done on some s10s with 5%, dunno how your window would like that though, never had a problem with mine besides road blocks, it was 20% and legal is 35, made me take it off right in front of them, but jus went home and put it right back on LOL, after alot of on and off though the static will be gone and it wont hold up, but thats like 10 or so times of taking it on and off
