Doetsch spindle guys, please help
I took everything apart to put my spindles(suspensionmax) on only to find the upper ball joint hole at the top of the spindle almost 1/4" smaller than on the factory spindle. Rather than try to make it fit we just put the stock back on for now. My stepdad wants to just have them machined out to the right diameter but I want to make sure they are right first. I have an '03 edge. The part# on the box is 589830 and the spindle is cast FR 300(LH/RH). I need help. Please, John, Jon? anyone?
Where did you get them?
There are two part numbers: one is for trucks with 10.25" (non-Edge) front brake rotors, and the other for trucks with 11.25" brake rotors (which inclludes Edge models). I'm not sure which part is which, but it sounds as if you might have gotten the wrong one somehow.
I'd say don't modify it -- get back to the vendor who sold it to you and tell them what you found.

I think mine were a 300, if you want me to we can hook up this weekend and take a look at them, if this is the person I am thinking it is. I will try and take a look mine, but it might be hard to do with the wheel on, and the weather sucks. I am pretty damn sure that it was a 300 though. I do know that it was a tight fit, had to hit a couple times with a rubber mallet to get it to seat in good. Just let me know.
Could you point me to what I need to cut, a link maybe? With the XLT spindles, other than the top ball joint not being correct it looked like everything would fit fine without causing a problem.
I had to do this, front of the arm where the spindle bolts on:

And this, try and cut the stop off about 3/4 of the way, back of the arm:

Be ready for some cutting, we used a air powered cut off tool and it took some time.

For sure, you need to cut the back edge of the arm, which is what my pictures show.
Really, there's no way to know until you test fit them. Wish this was a totally simple bolt-on, but it's not. "Some assembly requirred, batteries not included" lol!
