I got a Bassani too

I ordered a Bassani a few weeks ago and installed it today. It looks awsome on the truck but it sounds a little different than I expected. It is a little louder than I would have liked and sounds a bit on the ricer side... but at least it doesnt sound like a PO'ed bumble bee. lt is a deep somewhat monotonous tone, Maybe it sounds different to me because I have the OHV engine, I wished it gurgled and cracked more. I guess it takes time getting used too from having the stock exhaust. If you want pics I can take some(Its the same as rolsmojave3 but cleaner) but I don't have a digital camcorder, only a camera so I don't know how well a sound clip will come out.

Where I ordered it(free shiping):

This is what I wish it would of sound like even though it is a V8:
(It is a different Bassani muffler setup)

Two more things to note:
It didn't come with a donut or bolts/springs to mount to the spring flange.(nor instructions)
Also it REEKS! LOL I think it is the lube/lard burning off from the Mandrel bending.

Just wait for that puppy to break-in and gunk build up on it....then it'll start sounding right. Any new muff "breaks-in" after a few hundred miles. They always sound "weird" when first installed brand new.

Here are some pics and a soundclip:
2.25" diameter mandrel bent tubing

My old exhaust 1.75" diameter + crinkle bent

The soundclip is from my digital camera so it doesnt accurately represent the sound at all. The microphone will not pick up such a low loud note. It is much louder in real person.

Now wouldn't it be nice if we could get our rangers to sound like this:

I have noticed a slight increase in power but this exhaust does drone. I am not sure if bassani made these exhaust systems different than the mustang+GTO ones which do have different mufflers or that it is the engine difference with the cats. (The race exhaust above is different than my mine.)

Nice, that is exactly what I would love to do to my Ranger. I have a Bassani cat-back on my SVT Contour and LOVE it! Wish I could justify spending that kind of $$ on my truck now-a-day. but the look and sound are awesome!

I was thinking of picking up a SIDO Magnaflow and having a local exhaust shop make me something similar, anything to get rid of that ugly-*** stock tip and old stock muffler that needs to go.

Just curious though, what is the difference between the 3.0L and 4.0L exhaust? I see the Bassani site only lists if for a 4.0L. Is the stock exhust on all the Ranger's 1.75?

I don't know about the 3.0 but my exit pipe from the cat is 2.25". The old muffler wasn't stock now that I look at it. It was a generic replcement put on before I owned my truck. Beside Bassani only making them for 4.0L, I think they are only made for supercabs but might be wrong.

If I see a 3.0l sitting around I'll let you know if they're different
