mpgs with 250?
mpgs with 250?
Hey guys im lookin at buyin a used F250... 2003 and up. 6.0 psd. Was wondering what kind of fuel milage i can expect. I drive 70 miles a day and the ranger just isnt cutting it. So any input on the 6.0 would be great.
For sure look for a later model 6.0L. There are a lot of articles out there discussing the common problems and fixes through out the years of that engine.
On another note, even if you get 15-18mpg, you aren't going to be saving any money by buying another truck, maintaining a diesel, and paying more for the price of diesel fuel. I wouldn't do it unless you really need a big diesel. Otherwise you are better off buying a beat up old econobox.

and the other thing diesels love to be put work...if you just get a diesel for the heck of it its not going to be happy...and brians right diesels cost a ****load to maintain thats why i didnt get one
Depending on how my right foot feels I can get 18 to 19 out of my 7.3l.
Not all 6.0s are bad. They had their problems but that is mostly from the headbolt isssues and egr issues. Yes a diesel may cost a lot more on parts but they are built to handle more abuse. Plus the big thing of a diesel over gas is the longevity of the engine.
I personally like driving my ranger and 250 just the same. But I really like me diesel more. I have used and abused the truck with working and engine mods. Its all in what you need the truck for. Just a daily driver with the occasional trailer tow you can get by with a gasser. If you must have a diesel and want mpg a cummins or duramax get better mpg honestly. I just love my Superduty more.

yea im goin with a 1/2 ton for my next truck cause the "ocassional towing" consists of a jeep and sometimes a pickup bed trailer filled with **** haha
my neighbors 04 6.0 was a pos though .... took his almost a year of replacing **** to figure out the turbo was blown

There would be occasional towing up to the mountains of PA. I would tow my ranger. I would really like a diesel. I have a buddy with a Cummins with a boat load of mods and his mpgs are in the 20s. But i've always been a Powerstroke fan.
