Diesel owners, just a heads up
So as of yesterday this has been front page of a few forums I am on. Figured I would fill you all in here.
Due to ongoing talks with the EPA, H&S tuners have suspended all production of their tuning products.
official press release
Press Release - H&S Performance
The EPA is cracking down, this has happened to other companies in the past. SCT no longer sells canned DPF delete tunes, custom tunes are needed, edge has been also involved with the EPA with issues.
If any of you follow this you may think that due to issues in 2008 with ATS is to blame, it is not. H&S had another notice on their facebook today.
as of what I have been reading lately. Premiere, the supplier who distributes parts to 90% of the country's diesel shops has pulled all of the dpf delete and race parts off of their shelves.
I will update as soon as I get more info. I am not part of the industry at all, I just enjoy my truck. anyone else has any news feel free to chime in.
as far as I am concerned the EPA is a crock of **** and the government has way more important issues to deal with. all of the people that go around blowing excessive amounts of black smoke are ruining the sport for everyone. hopefully everything will come out on top and H&S will be able to continue doing what they're doing

We, as a diesel community, need to band together and work towards a solution with the EPA. The only blame should be placed on an ever growing crowd of diesel enthusiasts. Because of all the support and attention in this sport, we are getting looked at to ensure we are not causing excess harm to our environment. We have no doubts that the market will change in one way or another, but it is necessary to adapt and evolve to meet our governments needs. We are happy to comply and be able to continue providing support for our loyal customers around the world.

In my senior year of Mechanical Engineering (last Spring) I took an engines class and this was a big discussion. My teacher has worked and still works with engine companies and he showed us the EPA regulations chart on emissions that is about to go into effect.
The diesel industry is going to have to work really hard to fit into these regulations without weighing down the trucks with stupid exhaust systems unless they switch to HCCI engines

Diesel Power Science Experiment - Diesel Power Magazine
This is a good article about it, we didn't cover it much since it was at the end of the semester

A large part of this cracking down by the EPA is the irresponsible diesel owners polluting for no reason.
The companies will suffer far more than the people doing the polluting.
However, I'm all for the advancement of clean diesel technology, but not a fan of the overcomplicated emission systems making their way onto new diesels.

Yep, blame all of the idiots blowing massive amounts of black smoke on the street. Effing morons ruined it for everyone. I tried explaining this to the morons doing this all over the south but clearly they don't have the capacity to understand (or care about anyone but themselves).
I'm for cleaner diesel too, but all of the emissions crap they're forcing on new cars and trucks is garbage. Along with taxing the crap out of diesel that's currently near $.50 per gallon more than regular in Oregon. Between that and the massive costs of the emissions equipment there is hardly any reason to buy a diesel any more. They really are doing it to kill diesels it seems.
