The fx4 is the offroad package, and the XLT just a regular ole F-150, nothin fancy. If you get an fx4 and a 4x4 XLT side by side, the fx4 will be taller. Just thought i'd throw that in there.

Shocks are different, skidplates were optional on XLT, Suspension is different as stated above (stiffer springs and leafs, little taller), some other random options that were FX4 specific, interior color maybe, grilles might be different

I am fairly sure my Ranger is a FX4 without the name since they "technically" dont offer the FX4 package anymore. My Ranger has front, mid, and rear skid plates, HD shocks, 4x4, and has a limited slip.

Iv got the XLT too. Its just a few options from being loaded. I had the choice between a lesser optioned Sport or my more optioned XLT. The Sport even costed like $700 more. It was a no brainer

If you read the OP again (or read it period if you skipped it) you would realize the thread is about F150s and not Rangers.

^^^^ LOL

Seriously though, a bunch. FX4, at it's base means that you get the stiffest suspension, better shocks, and skid plates. That is universal among all models that came in FX4. But depending on what vehicle you got (Ranger, Expedition, F-150, or F-250/350) the FX4 package gives you a bunch of other options as well.

pretty much. both have skid plates and different shocks over the XLTs. i dunno about the f-150s but rangers have different axles too. i've got a 28 spline 8.8. the FX4s have a 31 spline.

Who in their right mind would give you (17-20 year old kid i'm assuming)a company truck?
also, If you want to fit more than two people at a time in a vehicle, get a car.

That doesn't make any sense. The whole purpose of a crew cab truck is to fit the whole crew in the truck like a car but it still has a bed and all the qualities of the truck.

Exactly. Sure is nice to take 5 guys out to the deer camp, no way a car would make it back there.

he's right cameron. a lot of companies have age limits on company vehicles. i worked at weed man and the age was 21 or 22. same with the bus company i'm at. i think it's 21 or 22 also for insurance. if you're under the age requirement there is a chance you won't get a company truck.

It makes me mad when people say "Get A Car". If I wanted a car, I woulda bought a car, but instead I got a truck because you cant do anything with a car!!!
