** LED Cluster Mod / 2004 and Newer Rangers **

Can anyone verify if these are the bulbs used in the 2004 and newer style Ranger Clusters?

I am going to be attempting an LED cluster for my 2004, I got my paws on these little guys and I'm not sure if these are the right ones because I've not had my cluster out yet.

From what I understand, no one has attempted at LED cluster mod on a 2004 or newer.

It was the last thread you made about this, I'll try to find a link for you. Someone told me that I never read the thread myself. I trust the source though. But go ahead and try, make sure to document everything I'm super interested if you get it to work.

Yah, I warned people not to do it, unless you read on it...

Are you just wanting to replace those bulbs? I think they're bulb #74 or something like that and you can get them in LED version... But those are the dummy lights... The lights that light up the gauges are the bigger brother of those, 194.

Yes, not all modders are created equal. If these are the correct bulbs than I think I can lick it.

So can't you just swap in some colored 194s?

Those little guys I took pictures of are not 194's, they are about half the size.

If they are 194s they sell replacements for those on autolumination.com. I want to change that ugly *** dingy dungeon green to bright vivid blue. I don't mind the warning lights being stock color.

I want to have my cluster match my floor.

Look what I found....

Look under the "needle",.... does that not look like the bulbs I posted above?

Maybe I'm lucky, these suckers are supposed to cost 12$ each at the dealer. If these are right I may have enough to make mistakes on before I get it right? But maybe they are the wrong ones all together.

They are from a 2008 Model Ford (Can't remember which one, not ranger tho....) However it would make sense if all of the clusters that ford made had similar/same bulbs...

Yes those are the bulbs and the sockets. All the bulbs in the 04 cluster are the same and you can pick up a 2 pack at auto zone for $2. If you go to the dealer they will sell you the bulb and the socket for $12.

I cant remember the exact number for them, but they are the only small ones they have.

there are NO 194 bulbs in the 04 up cluster.

Why would you want to do LED's?

i still have the extra cluster. I saved it incase I ever needed parts or got adventerous. I am not positive as to where it is in the shop, but Ill look for it tomarrow, and get a picture of the actual bulbs in the cluster. It is nice having that cluster tho, 2 bulbs have burned out on me so far, and i havent had to buy em

If your planning on changing the color then you are going to have to remove the faces of the gauges. I tried this and I couldnt get them off, so i cut them and slipped them over the needle, DONT DO THAT!! I guess you can pop them off with a fork on the older rangers, but my 06's didnt budge. Post if you attempt and succeed.

I suggest getting a cluster off ebay to play with first.

That way you can still drive the truck if things don't go well.
