04 Edge Power Locks acting up
04 Edge Power Locks acting up
Hi there
Long story short - the other day my keys got locked inside the truck and I used the questionable method mentioned here some time ago, the one that aired on TV showing how easy is to open the Rangers.
After that (or before, I don't know) my power locks keep working fine, but while you're driving they lock and unlock themselves without following a pattern, sometimes only once, sometimes 4 or 5 times in a row.
You can also use the alarm remote to lock and unlock the doors while driving (!!!???).
I don't know if fact that my keys got locked inside because of that problem or if I caused the problem open the truck that way. I was very gentle with the stick while opening the truck, I didn't apply any excesive force , was scarily easy.
Any help will be appreciated.
thanks
Carlos

if I remember right, if you hit the panic button while the keys are in the ingnitoion it does a "lock out" aka it locks the doors. I think i read that in the owners manual. I thought it was pretty dumb.
damamging the lock rod inside the door, i cant see how that would make the locks - lock and unlock them selves.
Try this... Take the key fob off your key ring, and leave it at home, and see if that changes anything. If it does, maybe your key fob is phucked. if it doesnt, then its not the key fob and its something else.
It sounds to me like it might be the relay for the power door locks tho... or a loose connection, a loose connection may power up the relay and make it 'flip' locking the doors...
Do they lock/unlock while going over bumps in the road?

sorry that I didn't post on my own post sooner, busy at work.
That mysteriously happened and is gone the same way.
I've used my truck as usual since I posted and that never happened again.
I'll keep you guys posted if appears again.
thanks a lot
