As far as 28 spline or 31 spline it is not really clear what I have in mine, it is an R7 for the axle code which is an 8.8 with 4.10's and a rear LS but the truck is just an FX4 not a LII. It's would be nice to know so when my clutch packs wear out I know my options when the time comes.

 

Yours has the 28 spline based on info I've seen here, and I am thinking that the 08 with the traclok has 28 splines, and only the torsen equipped 8.8's are using the 31 spline axles.
The $250 option isn't bad to get the Torsen 31 spline over a traklok 28 spline.

Bad things I've heard on the Torsen other than them grenading, is how they are open if one wheel is off the ground. No power is given to the wheel touching ground, unless you brake load it. (detroit truetrac as well)

That's gunna be any L/S you get, you won't see much power to the ground tire unless it's locked. the Torsen is open untill one tire breaks free, then it sends the power to the other tire to balance it out. The clutch driven L/S's are 50/50 on the load, until one tire is off the ground, in which then all the power is sent to the free tire and not the weighted tire.
