19.5 MPG's 12" total lift?!?!?

On my way back from Tuscaloosa last weekend I filled up in Prattville. I had about 250lbs of luggage (I carried the other car's luggage and a cooler) in the bed with the AC on windows up moving at about 85-90 mph. I made it back to Pensacola with 1/4 tank left over and drove around town to finish that off before I filled up again. With my tires calibrated in to the equation

(33/28) X miles on tripometer = actual miles driven
Actual miles driven/gallons of gas needed to "fill up" = actual MPG's

So all you guys that are sceptical about 33's with 4.10's and 3.0 here you go. It's possible to hit the 20 mpg avereage for a tank. That's 19.5 mpg's 3/4 fast highway (I kept my foot out of the gas on hills though) and 1/4 city. Just figured I'd share the news.

hmm, i have 34s, 4.10s and a 3.0, and get 15.5 if im lucky on all highway. on my last trip from austin to houston i got 15.3 with no a/c and staying under 80. and it wouldnt change the numbers too much, but stock the tire size is 29.

i think you may have gotten better mpg than you thought, cuz your math is wrong i think. you need to times your miles driven by the difference in the circumfrence of the tires, not just the height to find the actual miles driven.

the pi would cancel out, so this is correct.

the thing is, it's a 3.0.. i guarantee you this, if it were a 4.0, you would've gotten waaay less mileage than 19.5.

You see the 3.0 getting very decent gas mileage numbers over the 4.0 but it's still claimed the 3.0 and the 4.0 get the same. Mine varies little from 23 mpg but I have 3:73 and a 5 speed stick with 31"s where it looks like most 4.0s are autos so maybe that's the difference.

I got 23.5 hwy going up to TN on I-65 going 85-90 with the a/c on full blast going up and down hills most the time. I have 3.0 auto with 30.5in tires. I'm running a programmer thought which helps.

Wow, the 3.0 gets way better milage than the 4.0. Mines an auto, 3.73 gears, and 32's gets about 15 in the city and gets worse on the hwy.

That's what I did. I took 65 to 82 to get to T-town. I'm sure I would have got better mileage if 82 wasn't so bad on hills. I think a tuner might be in my near future in June after I get my roller-rockers, coil pack and wires so I'll be anxeious to see what kind of mileage I get after that.

Channing, you need to drop it like it's hawt! You'd get better mileage after that too. I got 21 around town when I was lowered. I still got my shorter U-bolts if you want them.

I just have a generic tune with my superchips programmer. I'm going to be looking into buying another tuner sometime soon from Doug. I've heard upwards to 27mpg hwy on a 3.0 with his tune.

I think the visor and rollin 85 on the hwy doesn't help.
