1992 Ford Ranger Towing Capacity?
1992 Ford Ranger Towing Capacity?
Hey all, I have a 1992 Ford Ranger XLT with the 3.0L V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission (M5OD-R1) I have a 2 inch ball on the rear bumper, and I’m looking at pulling a small 5’x8’ trailer and a 500lb lawn tractor I’m picking up for free. My question is, what would the max towing capacity be for my truck with the hitch set up, engine and transmission? I estimate the trailer weighs around 1500lbs so I’d be towing around 2,000 lbs with the stock bumper hitch.
For the bumper, it should be stamped into it right by the hole for the trailer ball, my guess is 200 lbs. tongue weight, 500 lbs. trailer weight.
For the gear ratio there should be a tag on one of the bolts holding the differential cover on.
