1997 project DD?
1997 project DD?
well i've been looking for a new DD since my job is 60 miles round trip, & my f150 is killing my wallet just to go to work. i was thinking of getting another ranger, but theres no such thing as a cheap one anymore, then i found this 1997 ford ranger xlt 4cyl auto gas saver
it needs work but i could get a loan for enough to pay for it rebuild the motor instead of using the other one, along with some "eye appeal" (lowering kit, maybe some nice rims) and between my 35-40 hour weeks and student loan it should be no problem to build my ideal dd & be a lot cheaper than buying a new or close to new truck, total i would probably plan on ending up right around $2000.
what do you guys think?
p.s this may not be the exact truck i get but same basic concept, if i found a 5 speed i would get that instead

If you have to get a loan for a project you are already starting in the whole.
Aside from that the truck is worth about $600. Also if you are looking for a dd to save money why get a lowering kit, rims, and tires? That is more money that you could just save.
As I say in all of these types of threads if you want something to save money do that, don't get something and then spend more into it or get yourself into a whole to save money. Doesn't make sense.

you have a good point, & i may not do the lower & rims, but even if i chose not to get a loan and just sell some stuff to buy it, i would still end up better off to rebuild this and put a little into it here and there while driving it. wouldnt you think?
driving this or something similar would pay for itself in 3-5 moths easy, speacally if i use it to go check up on the farm instead of the 150

Geo+ Take out the springs completely so it is super low + civic vx wheels. Pretty much the setup my buddy has. Minus the wheels. Its slammed and rids like crap. Looks amazing in a weird wtf manor. Plus gets around 60mpg and they cost nothing. Just have to be seen in a Geo. Who cares though. Worth it. lol
yea.. no on the Geo lol i've wanted another ranger since the day i sold mine, but mine was a pos & i was i need of reliable transportation & that one was broke down every other day, but i can handel a project now, probably gonna go back to 33's on the 150 & just live with it until i get me a ranger (maybe this one idk yet) & have my project going until its done then start on my 150, that should keep me busy for a good decade haha
