2000 Ranger gas cap
2000 Ranger gas cap
I know a bad gas cap not sealing right can throw a code but can it cause other issues with fuel delivery ? Thanks in advance

Gas caps do have a valve inside to prevent too much negative pressure from building up in the tank while driving
The EVAP system applies engine vacuum to pull gas fumes out of the tank when driving, not much negative pressure, 1"-2" max
If the purge valve should stick open and allow full engine vacuum, 18", the gas cap valve should open so pressure can't suck hoses flat
The test for this is to loosen gas cap so its not sealed, then go for a drive
