The pinch bolt which attaches the upper control arm ball joint to the knuckle has become stripped...I've seen some control arms that come with the bolt but the upper ball joint/bushings themselves are fine, I just need the pinch bolt.

Does anyone know where I can order a replacement pinch bolt alone...or what size the bolt is so maybe I can find a suitable, of not OEM, replacement? I've tried searching everywhere, but I can only find them for early 90's or 05+, can't even find a used one.

I'm getting kind of frustrated and am on the verge of ordering a new control arm, stealing the bolt, and then returning the control arm, lol.

Even a part number would help, if anyone could provide that.

 

If you have not fixed it yet you can take off the other wheel. Remove the other pinch bolt. Take it to the dealer or go to hardware store and see if you can match it. Or the junkyard. Or these.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah every time I found one online it was like $20, so I just went ahead and ordered a new control arm(with a grease-able and replaceable ball joint) that came with the pinch bolt. I did strongly consider taking it to the hardware store and getting as close as possible, but I just didn't think I'd be able to rest easy without an oem bolt under there.
