Actually the 06 -07s have square foglights and 08+ 4x4s sit a little lower. Other than that they're the same.

New window and lock switches! That's the only noticeable difference I see.

They seem to be using cheaper plastics now as well. Comparing my 02 to my dad's 08, my dash and door panels are relatively soft compared to the hard plastics now used.

Also on the Mazdas, tilt steering is not standard, nor is the arm rest mounted cup holder. My dad bought his 08 optioned the same way the 02 was when he bought that, and they seem to have cut back on or deleted some options.

Am I the only one that think the door panels and switches are ugly? I love the door panels from 96-07.

I know what you mean. The first time I tried to put down my window, my doors locked.....I like the older locks/window switches so much better.

my luxury car's window switches were on the centre console beside the shifter. It was kinda weird, but after you got used to it, it was pretty handy.

And it is the other way with my girlfriend when she is in the passenger seat I hear the door locks, and the "oops I was trying to put the window down".

98-03 are by far my favorites. I don't know what Ford focuses so much on changing the interiors. Why not put the 3.0L from the Escape or the 3.5L that's more efficient in the Ranger? Or even the 3.9L V8 that was offered in the Lincoln LS and Thunderbirds. Small platform engine and will provide the V8 that we long for.
