so a person came up to look at my camper the other day and he was driving a 2010 ranger fx4 and it now has stock disc brakes on the rear! I was almost more intereted in that then i was at selling my camper, but i will tell you one thing as soon as i can find a wrecked one im getting the disc brakes

 

I wouldn't, due to the eletronic shiznit that is involved. If you want disc's just get an exploder 31 spline

 

Or do the mustang disc swap

 

well its not like ripped off my whole front end and put 1970s tec into it... O wait yeah i did! and sure enough it still works fine HA cant be to hard to make it work

but the explorer is easier and you have a stronger axle

stang is by far easer and my 28 spline is holding up fine and ive banged it around a lot

 

idk...welding on perches is cake...and thats all thats really needed.

i talked to my dealership mechanic about the those disc brakes

he said they 2010 rear axle disc`s and the axle is just a direct swap

there is no electronic module for it .

just a simple adjustment bolt on the ABS block

 

Cheese_man, are you on drugs? Have you even looked at a 2010+ Ranger rear axle. I highly doubt it'll just "swap" over.

EDIT: Reference this photo I took. You tell me that it'll all just "swap" over. Did you know that 2010+ Ranger's has Ford's RSC? Your "dealership mechanic" probably doesn't either.

anyway..... both ways are still very viable. expo axle is nice for the stregth... plus you can rebuild it and have your pice of mind. setting the pads right and the pinion angle isnt hard at all... the mustang idea isnt bad either(i plan on doin this and doing a locker and then buying a 31 to build and flip the 28 to some jeeper for good $) its any easy swap and parts are plentiful. all depends on how you want to do it.

i simply asked the head mechanic if this axle was a direct swap , and he said yes it is

( and if anyone asks-- he is a 20+ years as head mechanic - he has been a mechanic for just over 40 years- so he has been around the block a few times )

he found a warranty issue with my old reg cab ranger that i never knew about -

 

It's not like your older truck would know anyway..just get rid of the stuff not needed and throw it on.

just don't connect the stability control stuff. you might need new/modified parking brake cables.

 

just write down the vehicle VIN# and order the proper parking brake cables

 

off topic question...but does anyone know how much lower a truck would sit if you swapped in an expo axle and left it spring under?

 

I think it's like 4-5 inches. I'm probably wrong though.
