33 inch spare fits in spare location...sort of

Back when I was looking to get 33's for my truck, I couldn't find a definitive answer on whether or not a 33 inch spare would fit in the stock location so I wanted to post this for anyone else who was looking. I decided to get a 33x10.5, put it on a 15x8 wheel and try it out. It doesn't fit completely in the spare carrier, the driver side has to ride below the frame. Also, the passenger side does sit about an inch from the exhaust, but I've checked several times over the past 1000 miles and the tire never felt hot. The tire not sitting flush isn't that noticeable when behind the truck, and I'm happy with it. I'm sure with at 12.5 wide tire it would be different, but its a spare so the skinny tire doesn't bother me. I definitely prefer this to filling the bed with some sort of carrier.
