519 code

Hey guys I have a 1994 ranger with the 2.3L and lately I’ve been getting a 519 code (power steering pressure switch/circuit open) and I’m not too sure why. The high pressure hose is slightly leaking from when I had it serviced at Firestone but I wouldn’t see that causing a code tho. Anyone have any advice or a good place to start to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum

519 (O) PSP switch/circuit open - PSP

This is a Circuit code, not a pressure code
So either the sensor is broken internally or one of its wires back to computer is broken

A new sensor is $15, I would be tempted to just change it for that price
But you can test the current sensor with an OHM meter, pull off the connector, look at the connectors wires and contacts inside to make sure all is well, and test sensor terminals with ohm meter to see if they are connected internally, should see under 100ohms
