96 Ranger Winter Project
96 Ranger Winter Project
My winter project is to do a LED conversion on the cluster, HVAC, 4x4 switch, Fog Light switch, Headlight switch, dome lights, etc... Plus I'm going to get ready to do strip the interior and repaint it, new carpet, swap out that ratty seat, redo the headliner, autodim temp compass mirror, and install and different radio. Big list huh? :)
I've already done the 4x4 and fog light switch, HVAC, and dome light. Now I'm concentrating on the headlight switch.
According to all the threads hear and elsewhere someone always states that the light is always on which is why so many are burned out. Every time I read this I would get upset with Ford for doing something so illogical and stupid. My workaround was to wire the light to the positive side of the Parking lamp circuit.
Guess what folks? The way the 96-97 Rangers are wired that light doesn't light up unless the switch is on (Parking or Headlight). I've gone thru the schematics several times and confirmed it. So I don't know where that "always on" fact came from but it is false.
