97, 4.0 Ranger engine jerks "little" idling
Hello, I have a 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 2WD.
I'm not sure if this is normal but when my truck is idling at a stop light or just in the drive way the engine jerks a little bit like it is misfiring. I have replaced all plugs/wires and I also have cleaned the MAF, and TB. Before it used to misfire and throw some codes until I changed the plugs/wires. Now I believe it's still doing it but not as bad and not enough to throw any codes.
Also before when I would tap on the gas my truck would die and I would have to restart it. It hasn't happened in awhile which I think the problem was the MAF being dirty? What else would cause the engine to possibly misfire or cause jerk-ness?
Thanks.

I had a similar problem with rough idle, and it was a vacuum leak. It was difficult to find at first, but as the leak became worse, the controller displayed a code 174. It was a vacuum hose rubbing on the rad hose. Don't know if this is your problem, but who knows.
