99 4.0 cranks and doesn’t start
99 4.0 cranks and doesn’t start
I’ve had some issues where the truck has trouble starting and it when it starts it is sometimes rough, but after sitting for maybe 2 hours and doing an oil change, it just cranks and cranks without starting. If anyone has any ideas that could help me out that would be great
Could be several things. Any lights or codes? Anybody hit the fuel safety switch on passenger side floorboard? I'm thinking a bad sensor someplace or throttle body maybe giving up or majorly dirty. Lastly, you may have a bad cam position sensor. Your going to have to do diagnostic work on this issue. Good luck and if you find anything else you come across, let us know.
so after i kept trying to start it for a while, it eventually did, but ran really rough and just starting dumping smoke out of the exhaust. i’m guessing it was flooded and burning off fuel. i ran the codes on it and it had a bad coolant temp sensor. I’m guessing the bad sensor messed up the computers and lead to having too much fuel which flooded the engine. I could be wrong there but i did replace the sensor and the sending unit as well, seems to run/start fine but I’ll have to give it a few days and see if i have issues again
