Icon5 Quick question, what's this thing?

What's this vent looking thing on my dash? Years ago when I was little in the earliy 2000's (not that long ago lol ) my dad had a 98 2wheel drive stepside Ranger and I vaguely remember in the truck was the same exact looking little itty bitty vent looking thing. I mean I haven't noticed or even felt any air coming out of it and I can't see them putting that there for "Aesthetics" but what the hell do I know...

Never thought about it. Maybe to help vent the heat from the radio.

Actually I have no idea what it's for, and I've had my truck for 8+ years.

Whatever it is, it's a better idea than the Explorer's tissue holder.

Don't hate on the tissue holder, its actually kinda nice to have. I know my fiancé appreciates it. Especially I told her that if she wanted tissues she needed to fins a pack that would fit in the slider, and she of course did within the next few days.

I had heard that in the explorer (that used the same dash) you could get auto climate control and that was where the sensor was.

Lol the location isn't bad because it made a perfect spot to put a phone charger in, but it was definitely an "interesting" idea to say the least.

Always wondered about that myself. What year did they stop putting them on?
