do you have the larger 31spline ones?

my plan was to do a SOA on the trac and add duff traction bars

I've only got the one style but I am unsure to be honest.

The original Duff brackets didn't fit my axle with out a little grinding. (2004 4x4 edge 4.0). I had the brackets made to fit my axle. My intentions were to make an underdog traction bar to sell. I abandoned the whole deal. The reality- the simplicity of the duffs made them inexpensive. The only way I could compete would be to steal their design which I chose not to do. I have sold a few pair of these brackets for guys that wanted double brackets on their duff bars.

Someone here probably knows the answer onthe 28 vs 31. Was it pre 2001 Duff bars fit on a 28 spline, but newer ones didn't without a little grinding? Then 31 spline needed a completely different one altogether?

honestly, all i know is the spring plate is bigger, so the opening between the legs of the Bracket need to be further out

Now that Duff discontinued them, maybe nows the time to start making them

Also, i have an extra explorer spring plate that i can mail you for proper testing on a 31spline axle plate

Roach2004 02-03-2007 07:49 PM

Wayne I bet if you started making them the people on here would snatch them up!

graniteguy 02-03-2007 08:46 PM

Soon would be the time Andy. Thats for sure.

Scott, if you get me the u-bolt spacing from center of one leg to center of the other leg, I'll measure it and see if it will fit.

graniteguy 02-03-2007 08:48 PM

3-3/8" measuring the center of the two holes. There looks to be enough room to widen them up to 1/2" without losing integrity:

I'd be game for a set of duff style traction bars if you ever go into production Wayne.

bucky919 02-04-2007 08:50 AM

I would take a set too

zabeard 02-04-2007 11:14 AM

i have 4 of those brackets and most all the parts sitting in my shed to make a custom set but decided i didnt want to make them any more.

D94R 02-04-2007 10:22 PM

zach, what do you want for those parts? and what else is needed?

zabeard 02-05-2007 05:23 AM

Sorry Matt someone PM'd me and its all sold now.

D94R 02-05-2007 09:20 AM

Ahh Ok.

Roach2004 02-05-2007 12:19 PM

So Wayne they made yet I got money? lol j/j

graniteguy 02-05-2007 12:30 PM

I guess i know what I am doing this weekend.

stockranger 02-05-2007 01:35 PM

Get er done, wayne ! I've got cash in hand too.

Fx4wannabe01 02-05-2007 02:45 PM

this flippin sucks!!! That's what I was going to buy this week!!! Hopefully......hey wayne.......let us know my friend, let us know. I'm VERY interested.

HarryTasker 02-05-2007 03:43 PM

Shane, i would suggest calling them and seeing if they have moved to tennesse yet or not, you might be able to drive up to sequim and get some parts.

graniteguy 02-05-2007 04:00 PM

i just made a call to them in hopes of buyimg some parts. ruff translation

"the bars will be revisited in a few months. We didn't make any money on them and we didn't sell enough of them. We need to figure out how to make them for less money".

Their design IS inexpensive. That was the brilliance in their design. Compare a duff bar at $100 to a caltrac for an s-10 that is $250+. pretty amazing if you ask me.

HarryTasker 02-05-2007 04:07 PM

I really think the best option they have is to make these during group buys. Kind of like RockinRobin did with the Waag bars. For the number of runs that he had going they must have made at least 75.

If JD wants to stay in Ranger they have got to update their products. Not many people are wheeling Gen 1 rangers anymore when you can get Gen 2 and 3 pretty cheap.

Fx4wannabe01 02-06-2007 12:49 AM

A group buy should be in the works within the next 3 months, imo. I'll also give them a call, or at least an email and find out. Even if they sell them for $150, I'll buy a set. Heck....I REALLY need one now.

EDIT: Tomarrow, I'm just going to order them. They still have them up on the site....and we'll see what'll happen.

i've been talking to them recently...seems like the new year rolled around and alot of us had the same resolution for our trucks in mind!!! Less wheel hop, more traction!

If you guys want, i'll start a thread on here and see how many we can get to say a definite yes on purchasing and i'll e-mail it to them to see if they buy it...i can do it on here, ORR, GBO, and RPS!

oh, and don't bother trying to order them...you'll get an e-mail roughly 2 or 3 days from now saying they are not available anymore and an apology saying that they haven't updated the site recently

Ah.......okey dokey.

CadiLLacPimPin 02-06-2007 09:21 PM

Well aint bat a ditch... I was gonna get a set of those too. Not for a while yet, but I did want some. Guess i'll worry about where to get 'em now when the time comes...

stockranger 02-07-2007 08:06 PM

i'm Into the group buy, but I hope underdog takes over the traction bar market. Duff never bothered to e-mail or call for 2 months . It was my main christmas gift from my parents so i'm bitter about having nothing to open christmas morning ! i know i could of called but my work schedule and lack of cell phone made it really hard till i got an extra day off . I e mailed them twice with no reply.

AeroDoc 02-07-2007 08:18 PM

I had a set on my TTB Ranger, and honestly, I thought the made the rear suspension bind. The axle used to drop really well, and track the terrain, but with the bars, the drop was limited.
