Antenna Options

So now that I've moved into my new house... my garage isn't as tall as where I used to live and my antenna doesn't agree with my garage door.

Is anyone using any shorter antennas and how's the reception? I used an All Sales 9" one on my Mustang and is seemed okay but just wondering what else is out there....

No one using anything besides stock?

If you are looking for a shorter one they make stubbey antennas, like 9 inches or something. Google will be your friend. Also any ford antenna should work. Mine is off a 05 mustang, I like the black better>

If you read my first post you'd see I had a 9" one on my Mustang.... just wondering if there's anything different out there!

I shaved mine, and stuck an 80s style aftermarket antenna behind the glove box. it works, probably isn't the best, but good enough. listen to mp3 disk more than the radio.

Sorry about that. I think they make 14 inch ones. Also they have the 9 inch molded rubber ones. I think the website CarID has them.

Pull the ball off the top of the stock antenna, then cut it to the height you want, grind around the top where you cut it and push the ball back on. I cut mine down to the height of the roof and it works fine.

I have a short black antenna on mine. I think it's like 8" maybe. Reception is fine and it looks soo much better than the stock flag pole.

Why not just let it hit the garage door? Mine hits every time and it doesn't hurt anything.

Wirelessly posted

I have a 8" antenna works good but has a few reception issues here and there

x2...I just put some black electrical tape around the tip though because it kept leaving black lines on the white garage trim.

The door isn't insulated so it's not a smooth surface on the backside. Then when I go to pull out the antenna binds as it's still under the door when parked. It's a good 4" or so too tall. Hard to explain!

I know i'm a little late to the party, but how long is it overall? 9inchs?
a company called MRT (mustang guys might know them) that makes a shorty antenna, 13 inches overall. which is probably too big.

I'm thinking I'll just measure the height to the top of the roof and then try and find something an inch or so higher...

i have a 3.5" billet one from torquesolutions - i get terrible reception but i could care less being as i never listen to the radio

I ended up using a 21" stainless steel black powercoat 3/16" diameter antenna. It sits just higher than the cab and the reception is awesome!
