Bad E-Fan news!

Today I was doing some wheeling. So I went through some mud/water puddles at a decent speed, got mud and water everwhere and inside the truck throught the windows, no big deal. Then I stopped and heard this crazy whizzing noise and shut the truck off immediately. I turned it back on and the same sound happened a few seconds later, shut the truck off again. Figured the engine got some water in it and was just running odd, but it was real odd. Opened the hood and there was some water in the air filter, and I looked at my e-fan, and there's 1 blade left on it!!!!! I guess going through the puddle threw too much water into the blades and snapped them. So yeah...i'm gonna need a new fan. I have the proform one from summit. Do they make replaceable blades by any chance or should I just buy a whole other one? Since I have the wiring all done it will be an easy swap, Is there another fan that will work with the same wiring that would be better? Any recommendations?

yeah man that does suck! that will happen to ANY fan if it hits water, its even a risk for a stock plastic fan. at least our fans have a caged design so if this happens again, you wont have to worry as much about damage to your other engine components

I was going to wire my fan so that I could shut it off from in the cab, I guess I didn't do it in time, haha. Is there some type of switch for that on the Jusnes one or can I just put a switch on the acc lead I have to kill the fan if needed to in the future for water crossings?

right, just put a switch int he acc lead to the controller. Oasis and i were discussing a three way switch that could be used to force on, force off, or use the temp sensor. it can certainly be done

Would adding a small aux fan on an on/off switch for emergencies be worth doing or even possible?...in case of this occurance again on a trail where fixing it wouldn't be possible. I'm real electrical and mechanically enclined so I can rig something up.

I think i'm going to order from you (Jusnes), how long is shipping? I live in PA, zip 15068, because I need to have my truck running before friday; and does it have a temp sensor like the proform one that i have?

the temp probe is the same as the kit you have now. we are in NC so there will be no problem having the kit to you in time, we have just about everything in stock, but some wire loom we will have to go get. we will try to get it out tomorrow but at the very latest it would go out tuesday, UPS Ground, and it wont take very long to get to you

Hey Bob, about that Efan and the store. What are you guys hours, cause the address is only 36 miles from Bragg. I may just come out there tomorrow and pick up a fan.

Exactly why I would want a forced ON/OFF switch, haha! Good luck with the next one...

we dont really have set hours... its basically when we're at home (not at work) and awake. we'll be working in mebane tomorrow, so I'll be home at 5 at the latest. pick a time after that and we can plan on it.

Know what, I just realized I have a test Tuesday morning, so tomorrow I'm tied up with studying. How about tuesday? Are you good for that. I get out of class around 430- 5, and mapquest says it should take about an hour to get to your place (maybe earlier). Let me know. How do you want to do the payment for the fan? Cash, Credit, Money Order?

that should work just fine. probably the easiest method is to place the order through the site, and pay with a credit card via paypal.

shipping is free anyway... but youre more than welcome to come by and see the other neat things ive got in stock

btw, which address did you use on mapquest?

I used: 1141 Durbin Way, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Hey if I pay online now, can I go ahead and come pick it up on Tuesday? Unless you guys can ship to a PO Box, then I'll just do it that way.

They really don't have a store, they have their two houses with garages, lol. I think they stock the e-fans and if you are lucky they may even help you install it

I got the fan, it came in yesterday! Quick shipping...thanks! I installed it last night in the dark then finished the wiring today in the light.
It seems like alot better quality than the proform one I had that broke, it's a better plastic and overall quality seems better.
