belt squeak??

belt squeak??

I have a 01 ranger 4.0 V6 and when u start it up the belt squeaks but after its warm it doesnt do it anymore only when the engine is cold, got any ideas?

belt look glazed? if so replace it and the tensioner. hows your idler look also. there all cheap parts i did them all at one with a gator back belt hard to find now

just replace the serpentine belt. takes like 20 minutes.

If a new belt doesn't fix it then use some sandpaper on the pulleys and then clean good with acetone. My '60 Ranchero belt was squealing like a stuck hog. I had to sand, clean and then buy a thicker V-belt to make it happy.
