Brake Issue

This just started happening with my brakes, I do not know what could have caused it. When I apply the pedal i feel the brakes engaging, but then for about a second the pedal wants to come back out and the brakes feel as if they are not working, and it goes away. It does not do it every time it is hit or miss. It feels as if the pedal is jumping back really quick.

Could there possibly be air in the line? Would I need to bleed the system?

Sounds like ABS is kicking in from a bad sensor.

Well it wouldn't be bad if he wasn't 400 miles away from him.

well it is snowing bad today, and it did it again. The ABS works fine, the brake pedal just wants to kick back for a split second, and then normal braking resumes. I am going to ask a couple guys i know that are auto mechanics and see what they have to say.

It could be the brake booster.

Sounds like it could be a bad booster possibly. 04Edge is still a good guy to contact as he does service work regularly and may be familiar with the symptoms.

hmm that sounds interesting. I will check around to see if any of the local guys around here have something like that. Could this possibly cause the check engine light to come on?

So, what's the fix?

If it does that at 5 mph or less each time why would you need to test anything?

If it's the false ABS event is there anything else it could be?

He said nothing about what speed it happens at. I have ABS and don't like them at all. I have always been able to pump the brakes and control braking myself. If they ever give me trouble they are coming off.

well tomorrow i am going to disable my abs and drive around for a while and see if it still does it. If not then it is more than likely an ABS issue. If it still does it, then something else is messed up. If it is ABS, is there any way to find out what sensor it is, will the scanner post that info?
