im not sure... but i think the 2.8 was a carb.... and when ford went to fuel injection is when they uped it to a 2.9 so if its a carb im betting its a 2.8 fuel injector its a 2.9

Im not sure, BUT

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...e_Ratings.html

tells you the years of the engines.... and in 86 is when they put the 2.9L in...
2.8 was in 83 to 85

u could also do a vin decode...

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...VIN_Codes.html

i dunno it wouldnt work if it was a 2.9 swap though.... but thats ALOT of work for 0.1 L

If it was a 2.9 the intake has it clearly stamped on the top of it in big letters. 1985 came with the 2.8 v6

Loved the look of the intake on the 2.9.
Would spend hours under the hood with a toothbrush cleaning that sucker, Inlayed Ford Blue in the square around the stamping.
Pulled the engine and painted the heads silver and block and valve covers Ford Blue.

Man I miss my BII

Mine was an 86 also.
Complete glass out, frame off, SAS rebuild.
Kept the 2.9 though, didn't want wheel spinning power and the 2.9 gave me good low end torque, plus it only had 30K on it when I did the rebuild., I see it around every now and then, but someone painted over the Imron PolyUrathene paint with what looks like Tremclad:(

Nice B2, id love to get one.

th 2.8 is a good little motor. pretty quick for its size and makes good torque.

I want a BII so bad, but my dad wont let me buy another truck.

My friend has an awesome 90 B II. He restored the whole thing. He is getting it repainted right now, should be done next week. I cant wait to see it.
Ill probably post some pix when he gets it back.
