Today i went wheeling, and i drove into a trail that is like a lake now from rain, but the water washed up over my hood and almost over my roof, the truck almost completely submerged under water drove right out, and i haven't had a problem since.
I will keep my 88 Forever!!

Hey you can believe what you want, but it's one of those times where you don't expect it, so no there aren't any pics.

 

Although i will put up some pics of my carpet, as it got flooded somewhat.

 

I'm sorry. I'm gonna have to call BS on this one. If the water went almost over the roof, then the intake would be completely submerged. If the engine was still running, then it would be full of water. no way you would just drive out. and your carpet got flooded somewhat? again,if you were up to the roof in water, it would be more than just somewhat. your seats, carpet, everything would be soaking wet. have fun getting all that mold out.

 

once the cab goes under and your car is basically a leaky submarine under water the vacuum of the water holding down the truck would be much to great to be able to drive out of. I believe this story EXCEPT that part. I say MAYBE the water was up to the bottom of the windshield.

It wouldn't flood out if it was a quick submerge or he had a wave in front of him.

Best picture I could find. If you go the right speed you can actually make a wave that keeps the engine almost untouched.

 

now, if the OP just drove thru water that splashed up and over the cab, thats believable. But, if he's claiming water was actually over the cab, then I also don't believe it.
some other poster on another forum said he drove his 2010 Ranger thru mud that was 3-4 feet deep that bogged out an F150, but his ranger went thru without any trouble.
why must newbies make up stuff?

 

No No No, you guys got me all wrong, i didn't say it went over the roof, i said it went up to my windshield, but it wasn't for long, i drove out right after. as this ditch was only like 4 feet long.

 

No not over the cab, it splashed onto the windshield, but the puddle was so only like 3-4 feet long, so i basically went in and then immediately out, not nearly long enough to do any damage.

 

See you understand me, i went in quick, the water splashed to to my windshield, but almost immediately i was out of it.

 

The water came up to about the middle of the windshield, but it was short, i came out so quick enough, long before it could do any damage.

 

so which is it? a "lake" or a 4' ditch? you said in your first post almost over your roof, but now you are saying only to the windshield. that's a pretty big difference. in both parts.

 

Up to about half or more of the windshield, i would consider that almost the roof.
I never said up over the roof, i said it almost did.
And it's a big ditch, and it rained a lot, so it's now like a mini lake

But it's so uneven along the bottom, that if you go slow through it, your gonna get your truck submerged and that's it for that truck.
But i went fast enough through it, the front wheels were able to go past the deep part and grab a hold of the other side, but flooring it through this ditch causes a wave to go up and almost over the truck, but the windshield stops most of it.

This is the best i could describe it, but seemingly it makes it sounds worst then it really is.

 

it can happen but its not very likely. if you made it out this time consider yourself lucky.

See the thing is though, i was just cruising through some water.
I had no clue there was a big deep ditch there under the water.

 

Yeah i thought of that before, so i was trying to be careful, but that ditch was a surprise, i didn't know it was even there under the water.

 

Rangers aren't designed to do this. They are designed to be a light work truck. Driving them in deep water is just asking for trouble. I'm just glad you did that to YOUR truck and not mine. That's also a good way to ruin your brakes.

It's not a submarine, it's a truck. Maybe next time buy a submarine and get your kicks.

I said i was cruising in like 5 inches of water, and then that ditch, that i had no clue was there until i plowed into it.
I'm not gonna intentionally do that to my truck, i love my truck.

 

Driving in 5" of water ?? What did you expect smooth sailing ?? You are not supposed to drive in water. Turn around and go another way. This is how people end up drowning in their vehicles. They don't realize that the road can go down and the water comes up and they get flooded. Water can be a very dangerous thing. You were lucky and learned that you can't see ditches when they are underwater. You got lucky the ditch wasn't even deeper and you didn't became completely submerged.

I read about these guys on the forum who get their kicks out of "mudding" with their truck and I just cringe. It's not designed to go driving thru rivers !!!!!!

 

Yeah i know.
Lesson learned yes, but never the less, it's just fun to off road, but see i know the area (well i thought i did) i have done dry off roading there many times, but i have never see that ditch.

 

You make it sound as if he air-dropped his truck into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean or something.
