Camper on stepside?
Camper on stepside?
I wish they would make one without that flare or atleast make it look a little better. I would love to have one for camping.

I'm fairly certain they make one for the step sides without the flare going into cab. I've actually never seen one with the flare to the cab like shown above...the ones I've seen all go straight into the cab without any flare. If I catch one rolling around, I'll find out the brand name. There are usually quite a few rolling around the beaches on a given weekend. Come to think of it, most of the campers I see on Rangers around here are on the flare sides. 
Exactly. Hence why I'm ditching my flareside/stepside in favor of a styleside, which I can use my LEER 100XL on :)
I use my bed all the time with the cap, on my 98! I want to use the cap in the wintertime, when I may or may not be able to fit all my gear in the truck. Say I'm going to pick my brother and sister up from school, they can throw their stuff in the back, much like a trunk. LOL
Beds are still functional, and if I need to haul anything "that big" I can easily remove the cap. You may not have to deal with it in NC, but here in Ohio, it snows. Having a cap on is SO convinent in the winter time, I can keep tools, recovery straps, duffle bags, etc, in the back of the truck. And in the summer time, I don't have to set up a tent! I've got a truck cap that's water proof! :)

I just like the ease of just throwing stuff in the back without having to open the tailgate, etc. I'm throwing cups in the bed from the driver seat all the time lol, can't do that with a cap. Personal preference. I have drunk friends that ride in the bed a lot so they don't puke in my truck haha
Gotcha... I hate it when people throw trash in my bed... I don't use it that way, so I guess I'm nto concerned about losing that function.
I understand the drunk friend remark, though my friends are not trustworthy enough to let ride in the back of my truck without doing stupid things...

Gotcha... I hate it when people throw trash in my bed... I don't use it that way, so I guess I'm nto concerned about losing that function.

I seriously thought I was the only person who did that. It reduces clutter SO MUCH in the cab to just throw the trash into the bed and fetch it later. The sliding window helps a lot. As long as it's got a little weight to it (and I know it won't fly out in a cop's windshield), it's in the bed.
Well, ill check around then. I had know idea they made em...I hope that guy comes through on wanting to switch my flare for his styleside...Guess ill wait and see what happens there.. then get a camper
Theres 2 guys in NC that told Freddie they woudl switch with them. One was Man in Black and the other one I can't remember.

To Flare Or Not To Flare
Safety Concern: With stepside caps, as with stepside pop-up hard covers, my concern is that since the stepside itself terminates inboard of the door columns, that parts of caps without a flare (and, hard covers) could be pushed into the passenger compartment in the event of a rear end collision involving a larger vehicle, like a truck.
