My 2008 has two cigarette lighter outlets. One I use to keep my phone charged and the other is a curiosity of history. I'd like to find out if it is possible to convert the unused one to an on/off switch for some extra external LED lighting for back road/off road driving. Can this be done without complicated steps like, say, removing the dashboard?

 

Pulling that part of the dash is a cinch. Two screws and it pops off, remove 2-4 wiring harnesses and it's free.

People have been converting ciggy lighters as kill switches for decades. I'm sure it can be adapted to your purpose.
