Try it at different angles. Some angles work better than others and put more width on it. Other than that, there's only a few more options. It's not a good idea to bang on the spindle.

If you're not reusing the ball joint, you can bang up on the stud and see if you can hammer it out. Kind of hard to get much force upward, but put the pickle fork wedged in there as far as you can to put tension on it, then bang upward on the ball joint stud with a good sized hammer. I did that on one side.

If you are reusing it, thread the nut back on it most of the way and bang up on the nut. You may break it loose.

Spray some lube in it and thread the nut upside down and if you can hammer on the end of the nut do that. You can also just keep working hte pickle fork or else just bang on the spindle itself right next to the ball joint stud. Either way it will eventually come loose. Just sometimes it seems to take a long long time.

The spindles are cast -- very bad idea to hammer on cast materials, Bob -- whether it works or not, lol!

use a 5lb sledge. especially if you arent reusing the spindle. I just put my spindles back on today and used a 5 lb sledge. Only took me an hour to swap out both spindles its really easy.
