Cap for the bed

So who has caps for their bed and what make/model. I want to get one to replace my soft cover. I need the use of my bed back and it needs to be covered. Are they light weight enough to take on and off by yourself?

i had a full shell on mine, im sure you can remember, it was a 2 man job though, but well worth it, i dropped a heavy dime on my shell for color and tint matching, but it was sweet. hit the ranger link in my sig, there should be some pics

I'm not TOO worried about customizing colors, the truck is black and the cap would be black so, that should be easy. Perhaps I can build something to make taking the cap on/off easier. I just want to be able to take it off if I need to pick up a load of gravel or dirt or something.

I know the one JDugan has on his truck, was like 200pnds... and looks nice...

Its not really the fact that its really heavy, just bulky, and its hard.. Cause its too big to carry with two hands...

Do you have a garage. I know people that have rigging set up to take off a cap single handed..

If I had a house and a place to store a canoe, I'd have a cap too. Add a set of rack bars to it and it'd be cake to cary a boat.. I've seen some pretty trick setups from the guys into kayaking..

Has anyone ever used Fedco brand caps? I got a price from them yesterday for $850.00. Comes with a dome light and CHMSL brake light. Sliding front window adds $25 and a raised roof is an additional $50.00. It can hold 300lbs on the roof. I would probably get both for $925.00. Do these prices sound comparable to the makor brands like Leer & ARE?

i used to be into kayaking, still have it up with my parents, just no use for it in ohio

used to have a bar that attaches to the hitch for the rear and a bar on the roof

i have a cap and i would take recent pictures if i can, but my dad broke my digi cam.. so here are some older ones

It's are A.R.E Z-Cap.. cost me 1500 with color match and tint.

Even though asthetically, it's bleh... (don't really like it). it's REALLY useful. This past weekend, i went up to Big Bear for snowboarding.. and it held like.. 10 boards inside.. and all our stuff when we were going up.. etc etc. Great to have. (see.. i'm growing to like it, haha)

I haven't tried to take it off, and i don't plan to. But it's said to be around 200 pounds, as stated above: two person job.

I think the windows might have a light tint, I don't remember. That is color matched paint and lifetime warrenty. No way in hell I am willing to spend $1,500 on it so I guess this $925 is a good deal!

I built a rack/lift for a buddy of mine. He has a Jeep and didnt always have an extra person to help him lift his top off. Its pretty simple, he just backed up to the rear support, lifted it onto the shelf, then used a ratchet strap to lift the front of the top off. Here are some pics:
