Cold Air Intake

Hey i have a 02 4.0 ranger edge and i was thinking about buying a cold air intake. the thing is that my friend insists that if i get it i will suck up alot of mud and water when i go off roading. does anybody have any problems with it when the go off roading?

dont know from experiance, but i do know that if you get a K&N cold air intake you can buy a cover to go over the intake to help protect it

the above link will take you to page with varies covers, they are specific fit the the filter in your truck
once it gets dirty you can take it off and put another one on(if you are on the trail) and clean them when you get home and only need to use them on the trail
im sure other intakes sell covers to, but i happen to have a k&n intake so i just looked that one up

yeah, i dont know if a stock intake can handle water like that- if its that extreme isnt that what the snorkels are for-lol
