Icon9 crashed my ranger

Hi Everyone first post here at RF,well I had a real nice 03 ranger 4.0 v6 that I had a accident with today, was going on a coffee run with the dog, came around a corner hit some ice,I tried to stop it but it happened too fast,me and the dog hit the snowbank but there was some rocks there too it was like a small rock cut.Anyway we hit and the truck flipped on its passenger side I lost a mirror and dented the fender and doors,it was my first accident in my life,I'm 29 and have been driving since I was 16.I was driving around town doing somethings and the roads seemed ok in town so we went on the highway for a little ride and not far up the highway it happened.I don't know if I can get it repaired but I am hoping I can if it's fixable and not too expensive, but I have a feeling it will be expensive.I'm upset about the truck but I'm more happy and thankful that my dog didn't get hurt or die because you all know the saying a vecihcle can be replaced but we can't well it's the same for my dog.So anyway I have some pictures here for you something everyone likes right, when I find out the damage I'll let you know, take care everyone

Wow, bad luck man. I hate to see a crashed truck on here. The powerdome survived too though. That will save you 500 dollars from the Ford house.

Sorry to see your truck get banged up but hey welcome to the accident mod. I didn't even have my truck a month and got creamed by some kid showing off to his friends. They totaled mine out, but I was able to get it fixed…

I bought the truck used last year so I'm not sure if that is that is the stock drive shaft,it does look like it was replaced though doesn't it?

That looks bad too,so you got it fixed and you still have the truck? I hope I can get mine back and if I do I'm gonna be even more cautious when I head out in it.The thing that really got me is I was in the truck trying to open the door and I was waving at people to try get some help it took three cars to go by before a fourth person stopped and gave me a hand to get out.I just know if I ever see a hand waving out a car or truck that's on it's side I'm going to stop to and check on the people in the vehicle, even if I don't see a hand out the window I'm still stopping lol, thanks again for the welcomes and the glad your ok's. take care everyone

Well just a little update for you guys,I talked to the guy at the body shop and he's saying there's alot of damage to that front end but I already knew that, then he said it would take at least $7800 to fix it,so since I paid $9500 for it I think I'm going to have to just scrap the truck. He said the front end is pushed back some and of course there's always stuff you can't see so until it's all apart. I don't think I'll be getting back. What a bummer man but it could have been alot worse.Take care everyone

Surprisingly, I don't think that it looks too bad. The key to totaling out a vehicle is the vehicle being worth less than or equal to the damage, and therefore, it not being in the best interests of the insurance company to pay for the fix. You bought it last year for $9400, and there is a minimum $7800 in damage. Assuming you made only 8 payments at $200, the amount owed would be the same as the damages, therefore, a total loss. If that is the case, you can probably pick up a quality used Ranger with low miles for $8000 or use the $8000 on a nice downpayment. Either way, you walked away without injury. Good luck on your next purchase.

I think that is what I am going to have to do,only thing I'm worried about is my insurance going up.I will be looking for a Ranger though in the next few months.I thought I would at least have some injuries but I'm just sore today otherwise I feel ok.I do have a question though, why did my air bags not deploy?do you have to hit right head on?because I hit pretty much right on and they never came out?.

Don't give up on it yet. When I smashed my front end during offroading, the body shop was like "$3000, and maybe more" blahblahblah. I got 'er done for $350 by myself. Shes still not 100%, but nobody but me can tell. I say tear some of the damage off and see how far it goes back, then go from there. If the frame isnt compromised, then theres a good chance you can fix it yourself, and have a little fun while doing it too!!
