cruise control recall

I just got letter from ford advising to not park next to structures to avoid starting fires and to come in and let them fix my cruise control. I know its a recall and all that, but is it really something i really need to get fixed? Last thing i want is some mechanic jacking with my electrical system if there isnt really a need to.

From what i understand the problem is the cruise control is on an always hot circuit and can short and ignite. anyone know what they do to fix this? i would assume they do something cheap and quick like a little clip on inline fuse, but i really have no idea. Oh and i have a 2002 edge

thanks

Lee

i dont want this happening

Wow that guy needs to settle down on the flame paint job lol. BUt really all they do is pop in an inline fuse. takes two seconds of ur time and does rob any horsepower so ul be fine.

Kinda odd cuz i got my letter like two years ago.

Super easy, takes less than 15 min. I forget exactly what it is, but it's a fuse or small relay tapped right at the CC box. Do it, if not just to make Ford pay!

haha yeah thats pretty bad. i found it on the counter today and asked my mom when she was going to tell me my truck might catch on fire. she said it came a couple days ago, but i do remember the recall awhile back.

i have to go in and get an alternator bolt anyways so might as well kill two birds with one stone.
